ReBORN is a body of work consisting of three artworks created from discarded and waste materials to which I have given a new life. They include plastic drinking straws, plastic mesh onion packaging and wine bottle corks. I chose these items because they possess qualities that speak to the increasing public awareness of consumerism and its detrimental impact upon the environment. My aim in creating these artworks is essentially to challenge people to think before discarding unwanted items which then contribute to landfill. Once an item has successfully fulfilled its primary purpose, it shouldn’t mean it has no further use. Innovative thinking could identify many objects that can be utilised in ways other than those for which they were originally designed. I hope that my artworks will encourage people to think about the materials I have used and my vision for repurposing them.
