Quilts are made with love as gifts to celebrate marriage, birth, and in some cultures, death. Utilitarian quilts are not prized for their perfection, but the sentiment imbued and their unsophisticated beauty.
The glass patination of the quilt resonates with the fragility of nature’s cycle of life.
The mark of the maker is always present in a quilt, Made with Love has my fingerprint in the silicon as a signature of the maker.
The black border encircles the quilt signifying the ultimate end of life while the white and pink celebrate new starts like birth and marriage. The black ‘stitching’ surrounding each square is a reminder that loss may occur at any time during the cycle of life. Loss takes many forms including the loss of future prospects, and grief for the loss of freedom or a loved one.
